Down from the mountains
When I was coming down the mountain, I was bawling my eyes out.
I was overwhelmed with joy.
Follow the Son (CFBC's 2015 youth retreat) took a year's worth of planning. A year of late nights, drafts upon drafts, and sitting for hours ironing out all the details. But it culminated in a weekend that was completely exhilarating, emotional, stressful, and...as I mentioned, overwhelmingly joyous.
Since coming home, here's what's been pressing on my heart.
Invest your life in the lives of others.
It was seven years ago when I was at the last youth camp as an attendee. Now the roles have flipped. Being the timid, shy, pretending-to-fall-asleep-so-I-don't-have-to-talk-to-anybody girl that I was, I would've never seen this coming had it not been for the investment that others placed in my life. The example they set before me, and their persistence and love to pursue me, pointed me to an even greater love.
Now, years later, I am convinced that there is no better way to live than to invest my life in others because of the all-satisfying love found in my Jesus!
And I'm determined to live this out daily, with exceeding joy, because this all-satisfying love was bought for me at the ultimate price. So despite the challenges - and there will be because relationships are messy - I press forward. I press forward not only because I've been shown this amazing love, but also 'cause I'm called to this higher love.
It's been a week everybody! My prayer is that the words spoken at this camp still resonate in your heart as strongly as ever. Hold fast to your convictions. Fight off distractions. Seek Him more. Know Him more. Love Him more.
